Airborne Pathogen Training

Course Registration

Mycobacterium Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that is spread from person-to-person through the air. According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), TB remains a significant health threat in many parts of the United States.

The following has been identified by the CDC as high risk for TB exposure:

•  Healthcare settings
•  Correctional institutions
•  Homeless shelters
•  Long-term care facilities for the elderly
•  Drug treatment centers
•  Being present during certain high-risk medical procedures that are cough-inducing or aerosol generating

The County of Riverside is charged with the responsibility of providing a safe & healthful workplace for its employees. As referenced in each Department’s Airborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan, employees in the above-mentioned settings, must be trained regarding Tuberculosis and the methods of prevention & treatment of the disease.

This class is offered along with the Bloodborne Pathogen Training Class required by the Cal-OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard for those employees with occupational exposure to Blood or other potentially infectious materials (see Bloodborne Pathogen Training).

Please use the Course Registration form (above) to schedule classes - include your Dept. name, phone/employee/ stop #'s for certificate mailing. Please be advised, there will be NO ADMITTANCE if more than 20 minutes late!

Failure to attend, send replacement, or give 48 hr notice will result in your Dept. being charged a $25 NO-SHOW fee.
