CPR Becomes More Physical.

County of Riverside Safety Division Office
Safety Manager

Welcome to the Safety Division Website

As manager of the County of Riverside’s Human Resources Department Safety Division, I would like to welcome you to our website.  I am hopeful that you will find it to be helpful in providing useful information relative to the variety of services that we offer.

As you may already know, the Safety Division provides centralized occupational safety and health services to all county departments and programs.  Meeting the needs of a 19,000-employee workforce engaged in activities ranging from law enforcement to medical care (and virtually everything in-between) presents unique and exciting challenges.  In order to meet these challenges, the Safety Division has developed a comprehensive occupational safety and health program that includes on-site occupational safety and health evaluations (including "ergonomic" evaluations) and consultative assistance, Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) development and implementation assistance as well as a variety of relevant safety training programs.

The heart of any successful occupational safety and health program is a dedicated staff of safety and health professionals.  The County Safety Division is no exception.  I encourage you to visit the “About Us” section of this website and to familiarize yourself with the Safety Division staff member that has responsibility for your department or program.  They stand ready to assist you with your questions and requests for service.

In order to help ensure a safe and healthful working environment, the Safety Division has developed a comprehensive Safety Manual that contains a variety of policies, which address specific occupational safety and health concerns.  Please visit the “Safety Manual” section of our website to learn more about this important document.

Of course, no occupational safety and health program would be complete without an extensive training program.  I ‘m pleased to say that the Safety Division has just such a program, with classes covering a variety of topics.  Classes are held primarily at our Spruce Street location; however, we also offer classes in Indio and Blythe.  I’m sure that you will find the “Training” section of our website helpful in meeting your training needs.

One of our more popular services is the Safety Division Monthly Newsletter.  Please visit the “Newsletter” section of our website to view current and past editions of this valuable safety tool.

It goes without saying that the County’s employees are its most valuable resource.  We at the County Safety Division believe that helping to get our employees through the day safely and home to their loved ones is our primary mission.  I can assure you that that we will do all that we can to meet this challenge.  Please let me (or any member of the Safety Division staff) know if the Safety Division can be of assistance.

Thank you.

The Safety Division Office Has Relocated!
Safety Divison Has Moved

The Safety Division is now located in its "new" location at 1115 Spruce St., Suite 17, in Riverside.  The main cross streets are Iowa Avenue and Spruce Street.

The Safety Division shares the building with other Human Resources Department  programs including The Center for Government Excellence, TAP and Ride Share.

Parking has improved over our former location, however, we do encourage you to get to your scheduled training a little early. Parking is on a “first come first serve” basis and the earlier you get here, the closer you'll be to the classroom.

We are very pleased with our new location and hope it continues to meet your training needs.

“See you in class”

Training Classes

At our new location, The County Safety Divison will be utilizing two primary classrooms; Classroom #13 and Classroom #9.

Classroom #9 will be used for other Safety Training classes such as Drivers Training, Ergonomics and Workplace Violence.  These classes are offered from 9:00 AM to Noon.

Note: Certain classes such as Supervisor Safety Orientation, Supervisor Workplace Violence and Forklift Training do have earlier start times, so please check ahead to verify the start time of the training you are attending.

Desert Region Safety Training Classes

Regular training for the Desert Region is conducted at the County of Riverside Sheriff Coroner’s Office located at 47-225 Oasis Street, Indio.  All Safety Divison classes are offered at this site, with the exception of CPR/First Aid. Classes are also scheduled as needed in Blythe.
